The Sauce
Directions
- First for this sloppy joe stuffed peppers recipe, preheat your pellet grill to 400 degrees. Let your cast iron dish warm up with the grill. Then add your onion and ground beef and sauté until your beef is browned and your onions are translucent.
Next, add all your sauce ingredients, mix thoroughly, and let simmer for 7-10 minutes. Now it's time to add your prepared rice. Remove from the grill but keep your grill on. You want to cut the tops of bell peppers off and remove the core and any seeds with a spoon.
Pro Tip: get the 4-bump bottom stuffed peppers as they balance better standing up. Stuff the sloppy joe mixture into your stuffed peppers. You can top your stuffed bell peppers with marble cheese if you like.
- Using the same cast iron, add 1/2 cup of water and place the sloppy joe stuffed peppers back into the pan. Smoke for 20-30 minutes, or until your peppers become somewhat soft. Enjoy.
