Cooking Method

The most important part of this recipe is that the completed Smoked Berry Lemonade is equal parts fresh lemon juice and Smoked Simple Syrup.

Simple Syrup Prep:
Pour two cups of sugar into a singular tin pan, or between a couple pans.
Notice the line where the sugar level is at within the pan - when you add the hot water to the pan, the simple syrup that you are creating, should never be higher than the sugar level line was at the beginning. i.e. if the sugar fills the pan half way, the simple syrup should fill the pan half way.
Slowly add hot water to the sugar and mix as you add to create the simple syrup.

Simple Syrup Cook:

Turn your grill to “Smoke” mode, place the tin(s) of simple syrup on the grill for 1 hour, or until your desired amount of smokiness is reached.
When finished, remove the Smoked Simple Syrup from the grill and let cool for 10-15 minutes (you don’t want to add hot to cold right away and risk cracking you glasses or your pitcher).

Lemon Juice Prep: (prep while the simple syrup is smoking)
Juice the lemons into a measuring cup until you have 2 cups juiced. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until the simple syrup has finished smoking.

Smoked Berry Lemonade Pitcher Prep:
In a 1-liter pitcher add your berries and ¼ cup of Smoked Simple Syrup. Muddle the berries into the simple syrup. Add the remaining 1 ¾ cups of Smoked Simple Syrup and the 2 cups of fresh lemon juice. Stir until mixed. Fill the remainder of the pitcher with club soda.
Chill for at least an hour (or add ice to glasses).

Serve and enjoy!

Smoked Berry Lemonade Individual Prep:
Add a tablespoon of Smoked Simple Syrup to your glass, then add desired berries. Muddle the berries into the simple syrup. Add a tablespoon of lemon juice to balance.

From there add equal parts fresh lemon juice and Smoked Simple Syrup. Add ice, and top with club soda.
