Cooking Instructions

No Thanksgiving spread is complete without the cranberry sauce. This year, skip the flavorless canned versions and opt for this simple, homemade Smoked Cranberry Sauce. With the perfect balance of sweetness, tartness, and spices, the cranberries cook down on the grill while picking up notes of delicious hardwood flavors. The savory smoke flavors will add a whole new dimension of richness and depth to your Thanksgiving table.

Note: It is recommended to use New England Apple Hardwood Pellets with this recipe.

  1. Fire up your Louisiana Grills pellet grill and preheat to 425° F. If using a gas or charcoal grill, set it for medium-high heat.
  2. In a cast iron Dutch oven, add cranberries, Granny Smith apples, apple juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, orange juice and zest and place on grill. Stir to combine and cook, covered, for 20 minutes.
  3. Open lid and stir sauce, then recover and reduce grill temperature to 350° F. Cook for an additional 15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  4. Serve warm, or refrigerate for future use.
