Cooking Instructions

Also known as Keftedes, these Greek Meatballs are filled with flavor and make an impressive Mediterranean-style spread. Made with both lamb and pork, the meatballs are seasoned with fresh herbs, garlic, and lemon then cooked on the grill for moisture and delicious wood-fired flavor. Serve with a fresh cucumber Tzatziki sauce and fresh Mediterranean tomato salad to make it a meal or crowd-pleasing appetizer.

How to Make Tzatziki Sauce

In a medium bowl, whisk together cucumber, Greek yogurt, sour cream, lemon juice, dill, salt and pepper.

*Sauce can be made up to 5 days in advance. Keep refrigerated until use.

To Make the Mediterranean Tomato Salad (Optional)


  • 1 cup Cucumber, chopped
  • 1 cup Cherry Tomatoes, halved
  • ½ cup Feta Cheese, crumbled
  • ¼ cup Kalamata Olives, chopped
  • 2 tbsp Grapeseed Oil
  • 1 tbsp Red Wine Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Mint, chopped
  • 1 tsp Oregano, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Cracked Pepper, to taste
  • 3 Pita Breads

In a large bowl, combine cucumber, tomatoes, feta, olives, grapeseed oil, red wine vinegar, mint, oregano, salt and pepper and toss.

Wood Pellet Recommendation

Since lamb is a delicate meat, it would be use a hardwood with a lighter aroma such as Louisiana Grills Pennsylvania Cherry Hardwood Pellets.

  1. Fire up your Louisiana Grills pellet grill and preheat to 425° F. If using a gas or charcoal grill, set it up for medium-high heat.
  2. Spray a cast iron skillet with cooking spray and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the panko, parsley, parmesan, grated onion, garlic, lemon juice and zest, egg, spices, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add the ground lamb and pork to the mixture and combine using your hands, being careful not to over-work the meat mixture.
  5. Form heaping tablespoon-sized meatballs and place into the prepared skillet. Transfer skillet to preheated grill and cook for 15 minutes.
  6. While meatballs are the grill, prepare the tzatziki sauce and salad.
  7. Remove the meatballs from the grill, then open the sear slide and grill 3 slices of pita bread, 30 seconds per side. Slice pita into wedges and serve on a platter alongside meatballs, salad, and tzatziki sauce.
