Satisfy your sweet & savory cravings with these delicious, & gooey caramel brownies with hickory honey sea salt. Bake in a cast iron skillet for a perfect firm crust and soft almost creamy interior.

These brownies are made with Hickory Smoked Salt which give the brownies subtle savory, smoky, and salt hit all notes of the flavor profile.

Master the art of baking brownies from scratch and you’ll wonder why you ever used a premade mix in the first place.

Note: It is recommended to use Georgia Pecan Hardwood Pellets for this recipe.

  1. To make the caramel, start by adding 1 cup of white sugar in a medium saucepan and heat over medium high for about 5 minutes. Stir occasionally until the sugar is a deep amber.
  2. Remove the sugar from the heat and immediately add the cubed, unsalted butter. The caramel will bubble a lot.
  3. Mix well until the butter is completely incorporated, then pour in the cream and Hickory Honey salt.
  4. Let cool before using in the brownies.
  5. For the brownies, preheat your Louisiana Grill to 350°F.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, mix the eggs, the remaining white sugar and brown sugar together until light.
  7. Add the vanilla and salt and mix well.
  8. Fold in the flour and cocoa powder until just mixed, then pour half the batter into a greased 12 cast iron skillet, saving half.
  9. Make a divot in the center of the batter, so that the edges are higher than the middle, and pour the caramel into the center of the batter.
  10. Then top with the rest of the brownie batter and grill for 30-40 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is just slightly jiggly.
  11. Allow to cool entirely before serving. Enjoy!
