How to Make Candied Bacon

The key is to top the strips of bacon with brown sugar and/or maple syrup and smoke at 200°F for 60 minutes on each side.

Note: It is recommended to use Competition Hardwood Pellets with this recipe.

This recipe uses Louisiana Grills Tennessee Apple Butter Seasoning.

  1. Preheat your Grill to 200°F.
  2. Place the bacon strips on a rack so that they don't overlap. Place the rack on a cookie sheet with parchment paper so that the grease doesn't drip into your grill and the pan catches all the bacon drippings.
  3. Sprinkle brown sugar all over one side of the bacon and sprinkle with the Tennessee Apple Butter seasoning to your liking. Place the entire set up on the grates of the grill and smoke for about an hour. Flip the bacon and sprinkle more brown sugar and spice on the other side of the bacon. Continue to smoke for another hour, checking on it every 20 minutes. You will know that the bacon is finished when it is medium golden brown and to your desired crispiness.
